Crown Shinpad

The Crown Shinpad is the most durable hockey shinpad on the market using Crown's High Impact carbon fibre and special medical grade foam to provide significantly increased comfort, protection and impact resistance. Crown had a clear brief with this project: a number of their sponsored players had been seriously injured using plastic shinpads. The product was developed in close collaboration with these pros as well as with a robust user research approach leveraging Crown's social media following to ensure the solution stopped these injuries and was also appropriate for the users needs. I was involved with all stages of the product's
development from concept to launch and responsible for the design development, and creation of a repeatable manufacture process to be done in-house. Since its launch in 2022, the product has received overwhelmingly positive feedback and Crown is currently in talks with Sport England to roll them out to the whole men's hockey team.
